Update for the Control Tower user interface
The Simacan Control Tower user interface has recently received an update, giving it a slightly different look than before and adding useful features. Simacanners have been making efforts recently to create a valuable user experience, with the aim of better responding to the needs and ease of use of our users. Below an overview of the main changes.
Quick access to the right information
- Users can now search and filter faster with a new filter column on the left-hand side of the Control Tower screen. This puts all filters in one place. Filtered results are immediately visible in the open screen.
- When zoomed-in on a location, it is now faster and easier to gain insight into nearby vehicles. Switching on the toggle 'Trips of vehicles on the map' filter instantly shows all nearby vehicles.
- Easy scrolling through your operations from today, tomorrow or those from the recent past by clicking on the added arrows next to the date (top left of the screen).
Information on the map
- The map has been moved to the right-hand side of the Control Tower screen and displays additional information.
- Traffic information is now shown on the map by default, including insight into the duration, cause and distance of delays. This information can be switched off via the map layers.
- When clicking on a 'stop' / location on the map, a pop-up appears with the location information. Information such as a loading and unloading address, shop identifier number and phone number. This allows Control Tower users to call a location directly. It is possible to provide authorised Control Tower users direct access via this pop-up to Master Data (database with business data) where, for example, a geofence (virtual demarcation) of a location can be changed.
- By clicking on a 'vehicle' on the map, a pop-up appears with vehicle information such as the carrier's name and contact details and when the vehicle last sent data.
- The display of the breadcrumb trail of GPS points has been improved. It is now easier to view the exact path travelled by a vehicle. Arrow keys allow quick navigation through the breadcrumb trail.
Finally
- From the trip list, you can now go directly to the ‘couple trips’ screen using the coupling icon. In this screen, you can easily couple or decouple vehicles to trips.
- Get lightning-fast insights into your transport data, reports and dashboards by clicking 'Insights' in the navigation menu.
Role- and organisation-based information
The information that can be shown and/or edited on our platform depends on a number of things. First, it depends on the information your chain partner(s) want to share with our platform. Second, the viewing and editing options are role-based, which means that not every Control Tower user within an organisation can view the same information or have the same editing options. Only those individuals authorised to do so can perform certain actions. Third, each organisation has its own operational needs with associated settings; therefore, functionalities may not be visible in your organisation's Control Tower.
Are you missing any of the functionalities mentioned in this article in your Transport Control Tower and would like to see them added? Please contact us so we can discuss the options.
