Within Simacan we have chosen Scala as our backend programming language. It is not the only language we use, but it is our first choice because of its robustness and interoperability. If you are willing to learn Scala, you are welcome with us! We are also an innovative team that likes to work with modern technologies, like Akka, Cats, ZIO and Kafka. Do you make a good fit to our team?
  • We work with Functional Programming, Akka and Kafka, as well as Microservices, AWS, CI/CD and TDD
  • Within Simacan we have different nationalities, so our the main language is English (spoken and written)
  • We are team players, analytical and like to share knowledge and insights with each other
  • Our teams consist of 0,5 to 10+ years of experience with Scala development in JVM

Our platform integrates real-time traffic information into our customers' primary business processes. This is how we help companies such as Albert Heijn, Jumbo and PostNL optimise their logistics processes. We also make an important contribution to CO2 reduction.

Your future at Simacan
When you start within the team as Scala Backend Developer, you will become a part of Product Engineering. This department contains a group of enthusiastic engineers who work together in smaller development teams based on Scrum. We do this in an environment that revolves around TDD and CI/CD. Together we work on various projects and subjects, focused on our cloud platform, based on an agile way of working. These projects include designing and developing APIs, improving our existing algorithms (such as routing or travel time calculation) and designing and developing new, unique features that help customers use our platform even better. These features relate to tangible subjects like delivery, route calculation, travel times and traffic jams.
